TUTOR BIOGRAPHIES Ansamma A. - Ansamma has a Masters degree in math and education and recently earned a Ph. D. in mathematics. She is currently teaching as an adjunct faculty member at Triton College. Ansamma enjoys teaching all levels of math, especially algebra, and she has fun working with a wide range of students. Sally D. - Sally has a B.S. in education and a Masters in special education administration. She has taught special needs students of all ages and has also tutored at COD and with the Sisters of St. Joseph. Sally tutors students in study and test-taking skills as well as reading. Kristy E. - Kristy has a B.S. degree in special education with an emphasis in LD, SED, EMH, and TMH as well as a Masters in curriculum and instruction. She also has a standard education certificate, K-8, with endorsements in reading, language arts, and science. Kristy currently teaches in District 48 and tutors students in all subject areas. Her hobbies and interests include jogging, reading, traveling, and spending time with her family. Tracie E. - Tracie has a B.A. from North Central College in English and a M.A. from National College of Education in education and writing. She taught English at Waubonsie Valley High School for five years until she had her first child and decided to stay home. She has tutored at various area high schools for the ACT and PSAT tests for the past ten years. Tracie is very active in her church, serving as worship director and Pioneer Club director. In her spare time, Tracie enjoys spending time with her family, reading, taking walks with her dog, and playing board games. Kristy G. - Kristy holds a B.A. degree in special education from Elmhurst College. She has been teaching multisensory reading and students with learning disabilities for ten years, and is currently teaching LD resource in District 44. She tutors students in elementary math and reading, multisensory reading, and writing. In her spare time, Kristy enjoys spending time with her family, reading, decorating her house, and hunting for bargains at garage sales. Marion J. - Marion has a B.A. degree from Immaculata University and a Masters in education from National-Louis University. She has taught at Cheltenham High School in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania and at Glenbard West High School, and she currently tutors students in Latin, French, English, social studies, and ESL. Marion enjoys the opera, theater, going to new restaurants, reading, and traveling. Don J. - Don earned his advanced degree in mathematics education from the University of Oklahoma. He is currently a faculty member of the math/computer science department at Wheaton College. Don finds tutoring all levels of math to be rewarding, especially calculus. He has conducted AP calculus workshops for high school teachers at Illinois Wesleyan, Marquette University, Central Michigan University, and the University of Iowa. In addition to mathematics, Don enjoys astronomy, classical music, chess, opera, Scrabble, bridge, and Sudoku. Tammy L. - Tammy has a B.S. degree in education from Oshkosh University and a Masters degree in curriculum instruction from Concordia University. She taught fourth grade and sixth grade in LaGrange, IL. Tammy has been tutoring students for nine years, mostly at the elementary and junior high levels. Her emphasis is in math, science, and reading comprehension. Tammy enjoys running, biking, reading, and spending time with family. Jan L. - Jan holds a B.A. in elementary/special education from Northeastern University. Prior to tutoring, she was an intermediate grade teacher and also had experience as a resource and adult education teacher. In addition, she worked as a freelance writer of education materials. In her spare time, Jan enjoys traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Angelo M. - Angelo has a B.A. and M.A. from Roosevelt University. He taught in the Chicago Public School system specializing in high school Spanish for many years before retiring. He is coaching students in study skills and hoping for some students to tutor in Spanish! He and his wife Joan are both working at ESGE. Angelo loves to read, do crossword puzzles, watch movies, and go to the theatre. He walks three to five miles a day for exercise. His two grandchildren are his pride and joy! Joan M. - Joan has a B.E. from Chicago State University. She also took classes at the Art Institute of Chicago. She taught reading, language arts, and art in the Chicago Public School system for thirty plus years before retiring. Currently she is tutoring students in reading comprehension and coaching study skills. Joan and her husband are both tutors at ESGE. They have three grown children. In her spare time, she enjoys working on her art projects, reading, photography, writing poetry, and best of all spending time with her two adorable grandchildren! Natalie M. - Natalie is currently in her fourth year at Wheaton College pursuing a Spanish major. She has been a private Spanish tutor for four years, and has taught everything from basic vocabulary to complex grammar structures and composition. She recently studied for seven weeks in Spain and has traveled to other Spanish speaking countries, including Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Peru. Natalie enjoys celebrating Hispanic culture and is currently serving as president of Unidad Cristiana (a Hispanic club on campus). Anne M. - Anne has an undergraduate degree in education and a minor in English from North Central College, a Masters degree in language and literacy from National-Louis University, and a recent National Board Certification in early adolescence English/ language arts. She has taught seventh grade language arts in District 203 and has also taught science and social science. Anne tutors students in language arts and study skills, and believes that helping students master organization and study skills is key to their success in school and life. Tom P. - Tom holds a B.S. degree in math and computer science from Iowa State University and an M.S. in computer science from the University of Chicago. He was a part-time faculty member of COD where he taught algebra. Tom tutors students in math. Aside from tutoring, Tom works in the music department at Glenbard West and is the pianist for the choirs and musicals. He has been married for thirty-six years and has two daughters and two grandsons. Kiley W. - Kiley has a B.A. from Iowa State University in English Secondary Education and has her Masters in TESOL at Wheaton College. Kiley mainly tutors students in ACT prep, but also teaches reading, writing, study skills, and test taking. She enjoys baking, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. Steve R. - Steve is a retired electrical engineer who holds both Bachelor's and Master's EE degrees and worked in Motorola's two-way radio communications business for 37 years. He and his wife Jeanene raised three children in Glen Ellyn, and were active for many years in youth sports and scouting for both boys and girls. Steve tutors math and physics, and he enjoys music, golf, and handyman projects. Molly W. - Molly has a B.S. degree from the University of Central Florida. She taught middle school for 14 years, helping students with learning disabilities and behavioral problems improve organizational skills, test taking strategies, reading fluency, and comprehension and writing skills. When not working, Molly loves to spend time with her husband and two children. She is an avid reader and enjoys going to the movies and visiting her family in Florida. Jay W. - Jay has a B.S. degree in communications and psychology. He worked for eight years for a residential treatment center and holds a Masters degree in education, specializing in behavioral learning disabilities. Jay has furthered his tutoring credentials by completing the Wilson training seminar. Jay is married with two children and likes sports. |
